WHAT IS "KAMEN RIDER" YOU ASK?
仮面ライダー (Masked Rider) is a long-running weekly Japanese tokusatsu (special effects) TV series created by Shotaro Ishinomori, that basically revolves around a Japanese young man who turns into a motorcycle-riding masked super hero to fight monsters and evil organizations often linked to his own origin.
WHERE TO START?
Mostly every installment of the franchise is a self-contained story with a different protagonist, set of villains and plot, so you can pick any one you find appealing and start there. The original Kamen Rider series and manga, V3, Black, ZO, Kuuga, Kabuto, Double and Fourze are usually recommended as good starting points.

ZX (1984)
Ryo Murasame and his sister were shot down while flying over the Amazon and got captured by the terrorist organization Badan. His sister is killed and Ryo gets turned into a cyborg warrior named ZX; however, an accident enables him to regain his memory. Ryo then becomes a Kamen Rider to avange his sister, teaming up with the past 9 Riders to fight Badan.

SHIN (1992)
Doctors Kazamatsuri and Onizuka are geneticists researching cures on diseases such as AIDS and cancer by strengthening the human body. The test subject is Shin, motorcycle racer son of Doctor Kazamatsuri. Unknown to them, their operation is funded by a syndicate group, who plan to use this research for their own gain. As if the syndicate were not enough, a CIA agent tracks Shin and wants him eliminated, for he doesn't know the true threat he could pose.

ZO (1993)
Masaru Aso was the young lab assistant of geneticist Doctor Mochizuki, but was used against his will on experiments related to the creation of the Neo Organism, enabling him to transform into Kamen Rider ZO. After escaping he went into a coma just to awake two years later with an unconscious urge to protect the Doctor's son from the evil creatures made by the powerful Neo Organism.

J & WORLD (1994)
The three oldest children of the Fog Mother, a giant alien crature, arrive to earth and hunt down Kana, the young sister of environmentalist reporter Kouji Segawa, in order to feed her to their newly hatched siblings. Kouji is thrown over a cliff trying to protect his sister from the fiends, but gets resurrected by the Earth spirits as the size changing warrior Kamen Rider J, with the purpose of fighting the Fog Mother.

THE FIRST (2005)
Takeshi Hongo, a man of extraordinarily intellect, is kidnapped and turned into a cyborg by an evil secret society known as Shocker, but soon he regains his self-awareness and escapes. Shocker views Hongo as a traitor and dispatches a new, nearly identical cyborg to destroy him. Meanwhile a lonely terminally ill patient has lost all hope but is slowly regaining it thanks to a mysterious girl.

THE NEXT (2007)
Two years after the end of Kamen Rider the First, a strange series of gruesome murders occur with a song by pop star Chiharu playing at the site of the murder. Hongo and his student Kotomi investigate Chiharu's brother Kazami Shiro and discover that Shocker have used nano-technology to turn Kazami into a cyborg code-named "V3". Now Hongo and Hayato are reunited to fight against Shocker one more time.
